RCD Music Ltd., a Canadian Independent Music Company, is proud to announce the debut release by the Lawn Jockies - UNTIL NOW. The Lawn Jockies are:
There is a very good chance that Lawn Jockies will be known as more than simply the guardians of your neighbours front porch. In fact, Toronto-area musicians "the Lawn Jockies" may be hailed as new guardians of the classic rock, R&B groove and sound made famous in the late 60s and early 70s; with an updated edge to propel the sound into the new millennium. Rhythm. Groove. Melody. Harmony... the Lawn Jockies trademark. The classic vibe is not surprising given some of the Lawn Jockies influences: the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. With a tight rhythm section, great guitar textures and rhythms, vintage Hammond and sax, topped off by vocals that rock and glide to fit the mood: FunknRock meets PopnSoul. Youve just entered the Lawn Jockies play area. The first single and video for "I Just Wanna Party" (track 1) is a case in point. A funky groove, gnarly guitar lick, tongue-in-cheek lyric and a Python-esque theme make for a great listen and fun watch. You may have heard the cool guitar lick from "I Just Wanna Party" on the Cantel "Pay As You Go" infomercial which aired on all the major TV networks nationwide last fall. Best of all, the Lawn Jockies live to play for a crowd and have performed individually and together from Alert to Sarajevo. Recent gigs of note include: the Molson Amphitheatre prior to Tom Petty (1999) & The Allman Brothers (2000), the United Way Walkathon at Nathan Phillips Square (1999 and 2000), CMW 2000 and club dates at the Horseshoe and the Reverb in Toronto.
